The Medical Malpractice Section is the oldest continuing section among LAJ’s practice sections and is one of LAJ’s larger and more active sections. The section has a list server that members regularly use for information exchange. In addition, the section periodically meets for networking and to discuss issues in medical malpractice litigation. Medical Malpractice Section members provide LAJ with valuable input and assistance in lobbying legislation dealing with medical malpractice issues.
Louisiana Association for Justice is a voluntary bar association whose statewide membership is composed mostly of lawyers who have a trial practice. Both defense and plaintiff attorneys belong to the association; however, most LAJ members represent consumer plaintiffs in civil actions. LAJ attorney-members are small business owners, maintaining a practice and supporting an office staff of fewer than 20 people.
